Port Nanjing

Nanjing is the largest inland port (code: CNNAN) located in China. It is the largest river port in the world, with a throughput of 191 million tons a year (data from 2012). It has become the city’s principal port as a result of its excellent growth and large throughput capability. It is located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, just before the start of the Yangtze Delta. The port covers 208 km of the river’s shoreline, specifically 110 km of the North Shore and 98 km of the South Shore. It includes 6 public ports and 3 industrial ports, constituting an excellent port complex. It is a type of an inland facility that has 257 available berths, 44 of which can accommodate ships of over 10,000 DWT. The port’s depth is 12.5 meters.

The city of Nanjing itself is an educational, political, cultural and economic center. It also has a thriving vehicle and tourist industry. The city has 6.55 million residents. Not long ago, the city was also the capital of the People’s Republic of China.
