Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth is a seaport with the code ZAPLZ. This port is located in South Africa in Algoa. Port Elizabeth is one of the largest ones in Africa, greatly facilitating the city’s trade. In 1830, at least 5 ships sailed from here to Europe. It became a free port in 1832. It took barely a year for the number of ships to 50 in 1832. It exported many goods, including wine, brandy, vinegar, ivory, hides and skins, leather, tallow, butter, soap, wool, ostrich feathers, salted beef, candles, aloe, and barley. It is the city’s principal seaport, and it uses modern devices for loading, the best in this hemisphere. An Industry Development Zone was also created, resulting in the expansion of port devices. Thanks to these modernizations, the port can continue to develop, to increase its throughput and to provide even better trade services.
