Seaport of Freeport

The Port of Freeport is a seaport with the code BSFPO, situated in the Bahamas on the Atlantic Ocean. It is the principal deep-water seaport in the country. Freeport is a duty-free area. The city is located in the Northwest Providence Channel. It has 26,910 residents, and is the second largest city in the country. It has an oil refinery here and a cement mill. There is also a repair shipyard. Tourists visit this city as it has very well developed seaside resorts and tourist centers. The constant tourist traffic in the Bahamas is above all a result of the constant temperatures almost all year long (average temperature in summer: +27ºC, in winter: +21ºC). The Bahamas used to belong to Great Britain, but they achieved independence in 1973.
