Seaport of Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung is a seaport with the code KWKHH. It is located south of Taiwan and is the largest port in the country, able to handle 10 million TEU (data from 2007). The facility is managed by the Taiwan International Ports Corporation. It is the only company in Taiwan that handles the management of state ports. At first it was a natural port, but over time it has been adapted to increasingly higher technical requirements. The facility’s growth really took off after World War II. The seaport of Kaohsiung has been operating in its new form since 1858. The city itself has the status of a separated city. It constitutes an important center for the electronic, IT, smelting, machine, shipyard and petrochemical industries. The Taiwan National Stadium is located in this very city. Kaohsiung has 2,773,483 residents, is divided into 38 districts, and is situated south of the Tropic of Cancer. It has a tropical climate, with average temperatures ranging from 18 to 28 degrees Celsius.
